Concentration & Precision

The sport requires a high degree of concentration and precision. The slow tensioning of the string, the calm aiming and the dynamics when the hand lets the arrow fly is an almost meditative process. The conscious sequence of tension and relaxation is not only a good exercise for children, young people and adults of all ages, but is also used in sports therapy.
 

Theory & Practice

Bows, arrows and arm guards are available for hire at the Bregenzerwald Activity Centre in Schnepfau. Trained instructors first give a brief tour of the history and materials of bows and arrows before you get a feel for the right posture, shooting technique, aiming and releasing while shooting at targets.

Then it's off to "hunt" with bow and arrow on a 3D practice course in the forest on the grounds of Gasthof Ritter: the skills learned are put into practice in a tournament at the various 3D targets. The whole thing takes about three hours.

It is advisable to participate with good shoes and clothing suitable for the weather.
