Where would you find a better place for a ski museum than in the snowiest village in the world? Enough said! The exhibition in the rectory encompasses 130 years of Vorarlberg skiing history as well as the history of ski racing in Vorarlberg.

Kirchdorf 131

Austria

On the second floor is a special exhibition entitled “The pioneering spirit and how it shaped tourism”. This exhibition portrays a number of people who were active during the formative years of tourism in Damüls/Faschina.

Damüls is one of the Vorarlberg villages which was settled in the 14th century by the Walsers. The village’s 700 year history is also a theme for an exhibition, accompanied by current stories from residents on the subject of their “immigration” to the Walser mountain village. These tales bring history alive, and make it more understandable to younger visitors.

Exhibits, principally those collected by Christian Lingenhöle from Bregenz, give an insight into the over 100 year history of skiing in the village. The former sports shop owner and Damülser “local” by choice, he has collected numerous types of vintage skis over the years, as well as many other winter sports accessories.
