The Zeppelin is a pioneer of airship travel and over the years has become a real cult object.

How did they manage to build an airship, nearly four times the size of an Airbus but still lighter than air? Does the legend of the Lakehurst disaster fascinate you? The multimedia presentation in the Zeppelin Museum vividly describes the story of aviation by means of over 1,500 original exhibits backed up by historical sound, film and photo footage. The museum is so successful that it attracts over 250,000 international visitors each year.

Within the exhibition the flying principle "lighter than air" is explained in depth and brought to life by a series of hands-on experiment stations. The successful history of the Zeppelin Company and its pioneers shows just how the technical innovations arose, and how the cult of the Zeppelin was celebrated over a hundred years ago. A highlight is the partial reconstruction of the LZ 129 Hindenburg. By climbing the boarding ladder and entering the LZ 129’s passenger area, faithfully reconstructed to its original size in accordance with the actual historical plans, you can get a good idea of how it felt to be a passenger in this innovative luxury airliner.
