The Sitterwerk on the site of a former textile dye works is a lively place characterised by art and production.

The art library with 25,000 volumes and the materials archive with material samples from art production are open to the public. The Kesselhaus Josephsohn, a permanent exhibition and storage space for the sculptures and plasters of the sculptor Hans Josephsohn, is also open to the public. Here his works are presented, conserved and sold to exhibitions and collections. The Sitterwerk is surrounded by art-producing businesses such as an art foundry and a photo lab, resulting in an inspiring and fruitful atmosphere.

Guided tours for groups

For groups of up to 25 people, the Sitterwerk Foundation offers guided tours of the Kunstgiesserei, the Josephsohn boiler house, the art library and the materials archive. The history and function of the institutions are explained in an introductory way, and the production of cast sculptures is clearly explained. The individual steps of the production processes can be followed on the tour of the Kunstgiesserei workshops and the Sitterwerk collections.

Guided tours are offered from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 4 pm. They last about 1.5 hours and cost CHF 400 per group plus CHF 5 admission per person.

A reduced rate of CHF 250.- plus CHF 5.- per person applies for school classes.
Members of the Sitterwerk Benefactors' Circle pay a flat rate of CHF 300.- per group.
